This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

Armenian massacres or The sword of Mohammed including a full account of the Turkish people Frederick Davis Greene Henry Davenport Northrup Books

This is an interesting, disturbing and enlightening book about the atrocities of 1895, which presaged the Armenian massacres of World War One. It is made more interesting in that it was prepared at the time, without foreknowledge of what was to come. It is a must-read for anyone interested in the history of Armenia and the Ottomans.

Since this book was written before the current “political correctness” cleansing of history, it is blunt in both its characterizations of the participants and in describing the actual atrocities. This makes its reading all the more shocking and emotionally challenging.

This is a collection of narratives and articles, obviously put together in a hurry to gather support for relief of the Armenian victims. As a result, it is rather rocky reading. This is made worse by the fact that the Kindle edition contains literally hundreds of errors. Parts are taken from a history book that refers to events in that book which are not included. If the reader is diligent, these handicaps can be overcome, although it caused me to give it only four stars rather than five.

I think it's great that the publishers are printing these on paperback. I just wish the cover was the same as the one for . Amazing book!
Another reason not to have gun control...an unarmed populace is the hunting ground for mass murder regimes to exterminate minorities...
Excellent book, painful stories of oppression and extermination of Christian minorities in Turkey.
Wanted to read and learn this history. Many don't know or understand this and it still continues today.
This is a collection of articles, letters, eye witness reports and government documents detailing the many massacres of the Christian Armenians in Eastern Turkey up to 1896. As this was written before the PC police the eye witness reports tells what actually happened with all the taking of wealth, taking of goods, taking of food, taking of means of defense, taking of homes, starvation, torture, gore, blood and agony of real life. There was also some interesting presentations of early arguments for USA to try and 'set things right' before USA was a world power. In places these arguments sound very much like current arguments for getting even more involved in the Middle East problems. For me the brutal injustice done to the Armenians got a bit redundant half way through the book and this is the reason for the four star rating.
